On 21 May 2025, the official 100-degree encyclopaedia account was transmitted to the Beijing Haidian Court article, which disclosed the results of the penalties imposed in the first competition for encyclopedia data in the country. According to information sources and numerous media reports, the plaintiffs were 100 degrees and the defendant was dim, involving the unauthorized extraction of over 600,000 words of the centigrade.

The case was instituted in 2024 and closed on 26 April 2025, when the Haydian Court found that the action of a network technology company constituted undue competition, and ruled that the company ceases its actions, eliminates the effects and compensates the plaintiffs for the financial loss of $5 million and reasonable expenses of $3 million.
The encyclopaedia data are described on a daily basis as multi-year operational results, involving significant human and material inputs. The defendant drew more than 600,000 words by technical means to fill the encyclopedia of its website, which seriously diminished the plaintiff ‘ s competitive advantage and caused substantial damage to the plaintiff and constituted undue competition.

As the country ‘ s first case of an encyclopedia data subsidy programme, the judgement provides a fair reference to the legality of data entries and cyber-crawling and may affect similar cases in the future.
